Young, inexperienced...what do I do?

Ok, so this is probably going to sound kind of stupid, but I have a dating problem. I'm seventeen, and I have never had a boyfriend. However, recently I have been getting to know a new guy at school, and I like him a lot. A few days ago, I found out that he likes me too. The biggest problem is that he is Indian, and his parents don't allow him to date. He doesn't have texting, or a Facebook, so the only way I can talk to him is to call him. We are both still a little awkward and shy around each other, so this is a little uncomfortable. He was not the one to tell me that he likes me, but it was a reliable source backed up with my own intuition. I have not told him how I feel about him, and I have no idea whether he knows or not. My friends want me to date him in secret, but I don't know if I want to go behind his parents' back and risk getting him in big trouble. Oh, and I'm really nervous about dating in general and it being awkward and everything. Haha, sorry this is so long...any advice?
