Is it safe for me to have sex during pregnancy?

I am 8w+3d pregnant and at the start of 5 weeks I started spotting, went to have an u/s everything was fine, then had another one at 7 weeks and babys heart was beating so nicely :) then I started spotting again at 7 weeks and I don't think I've lost it because I seem to only spot for 2 minutes and everythings fine. Plus I'm 8 weeks now and I'm still throwing up and having all of my pregnancy symptoms. Yesterday my friend told me I am at high risk pregnancy so I shouldn't be having sex, my partner and I haven't had sex for a while now so I was just wondering if it would make me lose my baby?
