Can I apply two work permit at the same time in canda?

I am a contract worker, my work permit expired last June 3, 2011 but had already applied for the extension of stay last May 27, 2011.Then another LMO (as live in caregiver) had been approved, I want to apply for a work permit with this LIVE IN CAREGIVER. is it possible to to submit my application as CAREGIVER without receiving my extension of work permit (which had been applied last May 27,2011)?
