How do you start a party equipment rental company?

I am interested in starting this type of company in the midwest. I have done party planning & worked many events, parties, concerts, etc for a few years. I am not interested in being a party planner, but thought renting out the equipment would be better! Is this a lucrative business opportunity & is it worth the risks?
